So, what you see in New York City today, double it,\u201d he added later.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani unexpectedly beat 10 other candidates in Tuesday&#8217;s New York mayoral Democratic primary, according to unofficial results, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/5370690-zohran-mamdani-bernie-sanders-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shocking political observers<\/a>. Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was on a path to a second-place finish.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani immigrated to the U.S. from Uganda as a child and has spent most of his life in the nation\u2019s biggest city. If he clinches New York City\u2019s top job in November, he would be its first Muslim and Asian mayor.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/5369558-trump-weighs-in-on-mamdanis-apparent-win-in-nyc-mayoral-primary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Truth Social post Wednesday<\/a>, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/114745583467776157\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called Mamdani<\/a> \u201ca 100% Communist Lunatic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor.
